# License — Trustgent /standard/data quarterly snapshot

**Draft — marked for legal review.** This license text is a working draft
authored 2026-07-07 as part of the initial /standard/data scaffold. It has not
yet been reviewed by counsel. The intent below is authoritative; the wording
will be tightened once counsel signs off.

## Grant

The public dataset published at
`https://trustgent.com/standard/data/<quarter>-providers.{csv,json}` is
licensed under the **Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International
License** (CC BY 4.0), with the additional **no-misrepresentation clause**
below.

You are free to:

- **Share** — copy and redistribute the dataset in any medium or format.
- **Adapt** — remix, transform, and build upon the dataset for any purpose,
  including commercial.

Under the following terms:

- **Attribution.** You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to
  `https://trustgent.com/standard/data`, and indicate if changes were made.
  You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests
  Trustgent endorses you or your use.
- **No misrepresentation** (see below). This clause is additional to CC BY 4.0.

## No-misrepresentation clause

You may not:

1. Publish a modified or filtered version of the dataset under branding that
   is confusable with "Trustgent," the "Trustgent Standard," "The Standard,"
   or any Trustgent product name, in a way that would mislead a reasonable
   reader into believing the modified data reflects Trustgent's published
   assessment.
2. Present an aggregation, ranking, or scoring you derived from the dataset
   as if it were produced by Trustgent, its verification methodology, or its
   plan-blind rank function.
3. Selectively republish rows in a way designed to overstate or understate
   the verification level, decay state, or record count of a specific
   provider without disclosing the selection.
4. Combine the dataset with paid-placement or pay-to-list signals in a
   downstream product and describe the resulting order as "Trustgent-ranked"
   or equivalent.

Attribution alone does not cure a use that violates the above. Trustgent may
publish a public list of known forks with a plain-English assessment (per
the plan's Defense Stack, item D).

## Trademarks

The names "Trustgent," "The Trustgent Standard," and "The Standard" are not
covered by this license. This license is a data license, not a trademark
license.

## Warranty disclaimer

The dataset is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind. Trustgent
publishes its verification methodology at `/how-we-verify` and
`/standard/methodology`; a snapshot reflects the state of the corpus at the
timestamp in the JSON header, subject to that methodology at its stamped
version.
