What the verified badge is, and is not.
v1.0, published 2026-07-05. Draft pending counsel review before final publication — the language below is our clear operating stance and will be tightened by external counsel before this page is footer-linked from the site.
Trustgent is a directory and marketplace, not a regulator.
Trustgent lists AI implementation partners and shares verification signals we have collected. We are not a notified body under Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 (the EU AI Act) or any other conformity-assessment framework. We do not perform conformity assessments under Article 43. Our verified badge is a Trustgent editorial signal about work a provider has done, it is not a regulatory certification and it does not substitute for any obligation a provider has under the AI Act, the GDPR, sectoral rules (HIPAA, MDR, DORA), or any national regime.
What the verified badge is.
The verified badge is a machine-readable claim, published as the JSON-LD Certification node at /api/badge/[slug]/schema, that a provider has met the criteria for a specific level (L2 or higher) on the Trustgent Attestation Protocol at a specific date. It is:
- An editorial signal by Trustgent about the provider.
- Time-stamped and expiring — a badge without a fresh
lastVerifiedis stale by design (see the 90-day freshness rule in how we verify). - Rescindable — Trustgent may remove or downgrade a badge if new evidence contradicts the underlying assessment; see the corrections policy for the appeal path.
What the verified badge is not.
- Not a substitute for AI Act Article 6 (high-risk system classification), Article 9 (risk management), Article 10 (data governance), Article 15 (accuracy, robustness, cybersecurity), or the Chapter III post-market monitoring obligations of the listed provider.
- Not a substitute for CE marking under Article 47 or any other regulatory conformity assessment.
- Not a warranty by Trustgent that the provider’s services fit any specific buyer’s use case, regulatory regime, or contractual requirements. Buyers are responsible for their own due diligence beyond the signals Trustgent surfaces.
- Not a legal opinion. Where a listed provider operates in a regulated context (healthcare, finance, safety-critical), the buyer and provider are responsible for any required additional certifications.
EU AI Act Article 50 — labelling of AI-generated content.
Where any Trustgent-published copy is generated or materially assisted by an AI system, the page carries a visible label stating so, in line with Article 50(4) of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689. The default label on such pages is: “This page includes AI-assisted content, reviewed by a named human editor.” The rest of the site is authored or editor-reviewed content authored by the identified editorial team.
Digital Services Act Article 16 — notice and action.
Trustgent operates a public-facing notice-and-action pathway for any content on trustgent.com alleged to be illegal under EU or national law. Submit notices to info@trustgent.com with subject “DSA Article 16 notice” and include: (a) sufficient identification of the content, (b) an explanation of the illegality, (c) a statement of good faith, (d) your identity where required. We acknowledge within 3 business days and act on clearly illegal content within a further 5 business days. The public quarterly report on notices received and actions taken lives at /legal/report.
Ranking neutrality is auditable.
The core neutrality claim, that a provider’s plan tier does not affect rank, is enforced in code and reported on statistically at /transparency. Anyone who believes rank has been influenced by tier can file a correction per the corrections policy and Trustgent will publish the outcome.
